10 creative Tumblr ideas for blogging when you have writers

I've become a fan of Tumblr over the past few months, visiting and adding content to my blog almost every day. What's nice about Tumblr is that, like Twitter, you can reblog posts from other members of the site, especially those you're subscribed to. This helps keep your own blog fresh with content without always having to develop it yourself. On the other hand, you can become a Tumblr-er who reblogs more than you create original content.

If you've been on Tumblr for a while, go to tumblrcloud and invite the app to create a cloud of the words you blog about most. When the cloud is published on your Tumblr blog, it will contain the total number of original posts and repeated journals.

If you lack original content ideas, you might consider some of the following creative writing ideas for Tumblr posts.

1. Pass the test

The easiest way to create ideas for Tumblr posts is to take on a daily challenge. Some of the most popular challenges include a 30-day Tumblr challenge, a 30-day Vampire Diaries challenge and a 30-day book challenge.

This Tumblr blog holds dozens of challenges that are sure to get your creative juices flowing.

2. Create a Bucket List

A Bucket List is simply a list of things you want to do in your life. You can create a single list of tasks or publish them separately in your daily blog posts.

3. Ask Me a Question

Ask your subscribers to ask you a question, or make a list of questions yourself, and ask them to choose one or two for you to answer. See my article on advanced Tumblr tips

On how to ask a question in a blog post. Experienced Tumblr members know that you also have an "Ask" box to leave questions.

Remember, however, that Tumblr is not Twitter. Your followers may want their Dashboard to be filled with your "Ask me a question" every day.

4. Currently Reading ...

If you're an avid reader, you should definitely spread the word about your book consumption. On Tumblr, you don't need to write a book report; only a summary or brief reaction will do. Or not ... upload an image of the book cover and you'll get yourself a message.

5. Start a Book Club.

There have been a few book club blogs started on Tumblr, but I'm not sure how well they're doing. You could try to wow your followers and see if they are interested. A similar idea might be to start a Tumblr blog based on a popular TV show.

6. GPOYW

If you're a bit vain, you could take part in a free Tumblr Wednesday painting. There's nothing to write here. Just take a picture of yourself and post it.

7. Study the tags.

If you're not inspired by your followers' content, you might want to check out Tumblr's Popular Tags page. There you'll find several dozen tags - from fashion to comics to science - that you can use for inspiring content.

Newspaper Eclipse.

If you need an interesting creative challenge, try your hand at Austin Cleon's poetry The Newspaper Blackout. You'll understand it best by visiting his Tumblr page. It basically involves taking a newspaper, a marker and creating a verse from selected words in an article. It may not be as easy as you think, but it creates interesting content on Tumblr.

9. Writing prompts

10. Post a quote

Often what makes Tumblr so appealing is that contributors link words and images together to create content. A simple photo and a quote from you or someone else can make an inspiring post on any given day.
