How to create a grid of posts for Pinterest in Photoshop

There are many ways to decorate your Instagram profile. One of the most fashionable and beautiful options is to split the image into several posts and make a real work of art out of your Instagram page. Let's tell you how to do it with your own hands very simply and quickly.

Step 1: Choose an image

There is a reason why we singled this out as a separate step. In fact, the choice of image is very important - if you choose the wrong one, it may turn out that the grid of posts will not look at all in the profile. The image can get severely cropped, or it can show pixels, or it just can't be broken down into posts.

So when choosing an image for your Instagram profile, it's important to stick to a few simple rules. The picture should be of high quality. It is best if the resolution is somewhere around 2400x1600, but no less than 1920x1280. It is better not to take too big an image, otherwise you may have trouble uploading it to Photoshop and Instagram.

It is desirable that the main details of the image fit into a square. As a rule, the grid of Instagram posts is formed exactly in the form of a square - three tiles by three.

It is undesirable to have a lot of small details in the image. When you break it down into posts and profile posts, there will be gaps between parts of the image and it may not look aesthetically pleasing.

Now that we've figured out the main rules and chosen the right image, you can download it and open Photoshop.

Step 2: Cutting

In fact, we can consider that we have already done half of the job. That's because the rest of the process will go pretty quickly. So, ideally, we only need one tool called "Slice Tool", which can be found in the menu of the "Crop" tool.

The Slice Tool in the Crop menu in Photoshop

Choose "Cutout" and right-click on the image. In the list that appears, select "Divide Slice...". Item appears and you get to the cherished menu, which allows you to quickly divide the image.

In the menu that appears, we need to check both items - the first allows you to divide the image into equal parts horizontally, and the second - vertically. The standard picture for Instagram posts is divided into nine squares. But if you have other ideas, you are free to choose the necessary number of divisions by yourself, setting their number in the first lines of each item.

Step 3: Saving Images for Posts

For the most part, we have completed our work. All that remains is to name the images clearly and save them. To do this, we first click on each fragment with the right mouse button, without disabling the "Slice" tool.

In the list that appears, choose "Edit Slice Options" and get to the special menu. Here we are interested in the "Name" item. Delete the default file name and write in the line the name you understand, which also contains the serial number of the post.

After that, we press "Ok" and do the same with the rest of the image. Then we have to go to the top menu and select "File". In the list that pops up, find "Export" and then choose "Save for Web (Legacy)". A big menu will open, where we need to right-click on the image and select the scale (about 25%).

In this menu, we have automatically selected the "Cutout" tool, and all we have to do is to select all our blocks one by one by holding down the Shift key. When the frames of all the blocks turn yellow, you can choose the picture format in the upper right part of the menu. JPEG and PNG are the best formats for this.

After choosing the best format, feel free to click the "Save..." button, choose a destination folder, and click "OK.

Now you can upload the finished posts to your Instagram profile and enjoy the mosaic effect.
