Today I want to show you how to enable monetisation on YouTube. I want to tell you what it is and what conditions are applied to your channel and videos.

What is monetization on YouTube?

Video monetization is the first official way of making money on YouTube. It's done by displaying contextual ads while watching your videos.

In simple words, these are different-format ads that are shown in different places on the video hosting site when you watch someone's video. Everyone has probably come across the format of ads at the beginning of a video, when the video is first shown with a "Skip Ads" or "Video Playback Will Start in 5 Seconds" button.

The system charges money for conversions of viewers who view your video to these ads. The cost per click varies depending on many conditions and can range from 1 cent to several hundred dollars.

Instructions for activation

Step 1: Go to the Creativity Studio and click the "Channel" tab to enable monetization. You will immediately be taken to the "Status and Features" page. Find the "Monetization" block on it and click the small "Enable" button.

Step 2: Accept the rules of the affiliate program.

Step 3: Link AdSense to your YouTube channel.

If you're not already registered with the Google AdSense advertising network, you need to register with it first.

Step 4: Once you have linked your accounts, you need to choose the formats of ads you want to show your viewers. I recommend choosing all of them.

Step 5. If your channel has 10,000 views, you just have to wait for the channel to be verified by the video hosting moderators.

Step 6. After successful verification, monetization will be enabled on your videos. I immediately recommend going back to the default video upload settings and making the setting for new videos ad formats at your discretion.
